Hello, just curious, can using higher octane gas make the bike run too lean?

  1. Not that I know of . Never heard of that.

  2. Higher octane burns slower if I remember correctly. So essentially it will run rich.

  3. If it burns slower then it won’t lean out it will run rich slow is less gas .

  5. And let me get this straight. If the muffler is getting too hot, it’s running lean and not rich? Too hot means it burns my pants.

  6. Higher octane prevents pre-ignition from pressure and heat. Engines run cleaner and more efficiently with high octane fuels. It’s what I burn in my ’04 Shadow.
