Hello, just curious, can using higher octane gas make the bike run too lean?

    Higher octane burns slower if I remember correctly. So essentially it will run rich.

    If it burns slower then it won’t lean out it will run rich slow is less gas .

    And let me get this straight. If the muffler is getting too hot, it’s running lean and not rich? Too hot means it burns my pants.

    Higher octane prevents pre-ignition from pressure and heat. Engines run cleaner and more efficiently with high octane fuels. It’s what I burn in my ’04 Shadow.
