Wolo Bad Boy Max 619

Question

I installed a Wolo Bad Boy Max 619 Air Horn on my 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic. The horn suggests using a relay that is 12V with a 30A fuse. Reading through the manual today it says never use a fuse over 10A. My tail light fuse keeps blowing. Could this 30A fuse be the issue? I’m taking it to the shop on Thursday if I can’t figure it out by then.

Don’t connect the horn directly to you horn button. You need to connect the horn relay contacts (relay contact # 30, 87) directly to the battery using a 20 amp fuse. The horn draws 17 amps so a 20 amp fuse will be best. Connect the coil on the relay (# 85, 86) to the horn button wire. Bad max has a print out to look at. I hope this helps you out.

Hi Henry I used the Wolo Wiring Harness and connected it exactly as it said. I pulled the inline fuse for the wire harness. Re-installed the factory Horn using the factory wires. Changed the Tail Light Fuse. Tested it in the Garage, it worked. Headed out to work and the Tail was out by the time I made it to the first stop sign and confirmed at the gas station. Taking it to the Dealer on Thursday morning. Thanks for all that gave their input. Glad to know it wasn’t my install I followed it to the “T”.
