Removing stock cam chain tensioner in 2010 KTM 530 EXC

Question

Im looking for some help on removing my stock cam chain tensioner in my 2010 ktm 530 exc, my question is do I need to have cam on top dead centre before removing tensioner as I have read that there is a chance the chain can jump a tooth if not done properly

But I would make shore all timing makes are right and lock bottom end up

Rule of thumb. Always set timing to TDC compression stroke before touching anything in the engine.

You don't have to, but it's best practice to set it up to TDC. It's much better to check the timing hasn't moved before starting it, than having to rebuild it with bent valves and rooted too end after finding out you got it wrong.

The 530 has a bolt that u remove and take off the copper washer and put back in it then locates with a notch in the crank, this will get it to top dead!
