I run a Hennessey. They are not cheap. But Quality never is. A couple options to look at are snake skins, they make set up & breakdown a breeze. & a zipper top then you can use it as a chair.

I’m liking the Hennessy from what I’m seeing. I can’t tell what holds the asym portion of the hammock out though, I see lines running out but does it require stakes in the ground? I read they don’t come with stakes.

You stake the sides out. I just carry light duty stakes put them in by hand. You don’t have to use them it will move when you adjust your position. If you plan to use it under 40 degrees you might want to consider their new option that has a double bottom with a bubble pad.

Crey, I use a Hennessy Ultralight with different rainfly options depending on the trip. I thru hiked the AT with it in 09 and fine tuned the setup. I still use the same hammock for nearly all trips I take now depending on how cold it gets. I sleep with a pad underneath and have no problems staying warm and very comfortable. It’s my favorite piece of gear.

    Don’t hammocks hurt your backs?

My back locks up in bed, in a tent and on the couch but when I sleep in my hammock – it’s glorious.

Just the oposite, helps my back

Not sure I could sleep on my back in a curved position. I tend to sleep on my stomach. Maybe that’s why I could never get comfortable in a hammock.

Joshua Thomas , check out Shug’s series of hammock videos on YouTube. You don’t sleep like a banana, you lay flat, diagonally across the hammock. It’s pretty neat.

Joshua Thomas I sleep flat on my back or on my side. You lay flat by laying at an angle.

Hennessey Hammock. Had it since 2000. Used it this post weekend. Good camping hammock. They’ve upgraded a lot since I bought mine. Certainly worth a look.

      Which model do you have?

the explorer deluxe. Don’t know if they make it anymore, but the cities I looked at online a while back are bigger, stronger, and have the strap system.

It’s the only camping hammock I’ve had so I can’t compare it to other ones, but there certainly are a lot out there that people seem to be happy with. I’ve enjoyed mine. haven’t had the chances to use it as much as I would like to, but everytime I do break it out it’s never let me down. Comes with rain fly ,it’s kind of small but you can set it up as close to or as far above the hammock as you want. the new ones might come with a bigger rain fly I’m not certain

    I like my Skeeter Beater.

I’ve got a great DIY, a few yards of ripstop, some Dyneema cord for whoopie slings and nylon straps for the trees. Wrap it all up with a couple hours on the wife’s repetitive action thread injector apparatus and I’m swinging in the breeze!

Blackbird XLC hammock and a Kelty 3 person tent.

I just bought ENO with rain tarp and a bug screen. Been using it in my yard. I like it. The double doesn’t fit two maybe a nap.

I got a nylon web 2-man, that I use a sleeping pad under a mummy bag. I string a tauntline between the trees and use a blue poly tarp. If you NEED an expen$ive rig, you’re sorta missing the point. It all fits in the little green pouch.

Don’t go cheap if you want to give it a real chance. They don’t compare. I went with a “dream hammock”. They are great to deal with!!! Highly suggested.

ok I see two hammocks, two UQ, two skeeter nets, is that the snakeskin, if so are you using it for the rain fly?. I have thought of bringing an extra hammock w/me to keep my gear easy to get to and out of the eviroment under my 12×12 Kelty.

This is a tandem hang two Hammocks hung on the two same trees with a 34″ spreader bar at the head end. This was the first tandem hang for us. It worked great we are under the same tarp and can talk at night. We had a little rain one night and closed the tarp down and never got a drop.

Lee Hal, nice set up, can you tell me about your Kelty?

    0

Hector all I can tell you is its an old Kelty dome shelter. We have it for years. 3 poles and has been great for eating under when raining, packs small.

Dreamhammock.com. Own several and love every one of them. Tried many others…. and wasn’t satisfied.
