Can Am Defender 1/2 windshield

Question

Small rant for you guys: everyone needs a little drama. 🤨. I originally had the 1/2 windshield last year and can am soft doors for the winter. It was apparent that the 1/2 windshield and soft doors were not a good mix. Too much air pressure coming in the front want to push the soft doors out. Not quite as bad if you open the rear slider window, but who wants to do that in the winter?😳. I upgraded to the full windshield and due to all the air holes the designers left I this machine I find the sweet spot is around 42 mph before the doors try to pull open. 45 if you open the rear slider. For trailering, I typically open the rear slider and roll the windows down and snap the strap to keep them in place. I’ve trailered it a few times with no issue. Actually just dropped the machine off to the dealer for a can am heater install. It was a little more windy on my way home yesterday and the wind unsnapped the straps on each window. They unrolled and flapped like dumbo ears and ripped the plastic windows. I was so angry when I pulled over yesterday. 😡. These windows should have more than 1 strap to secure them. At least make these windows replaceable for the $1000 the doors cost 🧐. Currently waiting for can am to say whether or not they will replace them. Luckily a tape job wasn’t that difficult and I had plenty of gorilla tape. went for some full speed runs last night and holding good. Here’s some photos:

I had a local guy that does commercial sewing replace my windows because they were scratched from use over the past year. He replaces bother for $90 and I also had him put different style strap on it for when I open my windows

For what they cost you’d think they wouldn’t do that. Mine start at 60mph. Thought about hauling it backwards

I haul mine backwards when I do tow it and it’s a lot better

Bad news and good news. Can am just came back and said they would not cover the doors. I was slightly disappointed, put not a huge deal. I have them taped and they don’t look too bad. Then dealer tells me that I’m a great customer and they have extra money. They will pay $800 toward new doors if I pay the other $200. That works for me. Now I have an extra set of doors! I can even sell them if anyone wants a deal on soft doors with some tape on the windows.

Update: got my new soft doors from the dealer and installed them. So far I’ve hit 50mph and these doors don’t blow out like the previous ones. Not sure if something has changed in the doors or if it’s because I’ve plugged 85u0025 of the air holes coming in under the dash?. I’m guessing the cab models have some sort of under dash insulation or sealing kit? Not seeing a kit for that anywhere though. I’ve been using pieces of foam rubber.
