Buying a new MT-09
Question
Hey guys new to the group here. I’m looking at possibly buying a new MT-09 this year. My question for you is are any if you larger frame guys and is the bike still comfortable to ride? I’m 6’5″ and about 250 pounds looking for a few opinions thank you
Answers ( No )
I'm 6'2†and 360. No probs here. Rear shock is on full preload and a half turn out and front forks are on the last line and about a half turn out.
I am 6'1' 230 lbs. All fz09s regardless of year will need new springs front and rear to work properly as the stock springs are for at Max, a 180 lb rider.
Otherwise, you should be fine. Just adjust the angles of the controls and handlebars to fit you
I'm 5'11" and I feel like it's a tiny bike. You're going to feel and look silly on it. Plus it'll handle like shit. You need a larger bike for sure.
I'm 6'5, 260 and there's tons of room on this bike. Sure maybe I look silly but I really don't care considering I'm very comfortable on it.
I think it's more of a hight question I'm after, I can always get different shocks/springs if needed for my weight
Forward lean angle of zero degrees, 71 degree bend at knees, 90 degree hip angle ( for your height)

Find one to test ride, see how it feels. I feel like my legs are in a slightly awkward position at my height, it would just be worse for someone taller. Of course, everyone has a different opinion on riding position.
Kurtis Harrison how much do you want for your bike ? My bro is looking for one.
6ft 8 280 lbs buy a comfort seat the same day as your bike from Yamaha and a quick shifter it makes the bike 10000% better for us big guys taller & softer seats.
Wes Pues, new handlebars can be fitted to be taller, if necessary. Lower pegs can be installed, if needed. Seat concepts makes a taller seat option to raise your butt. You can further raise the front of the seat a 1/2-3/4" by installing chair feet on the bottom of the seat where it sits on the frame.
6'6" here no issues
Thank you everyone for the information, one of my buddy's said I can take there's for a cruze before I buy one for sure
I am only 6ft 2 but with some lower handlebars, seat concepts rally seat and some lowered footpegs you should feel fine in the cockpit. As for the springs I would suggest finding a shop to help dial it in for your weight.
Don't do it
expect to do a suspension upgrade all around.
6'5" 240 Pounds. No problems. I have Corbin seat.
I'm 6'6" and 250lbs. Max. Load on bike according to Yamaha is approx. 375lbs. No problems here; Will buy another seat in due time for more comfort on longer rides.
