Follow the instructions properly and it works well:

The best stuff is Caswell. It’s more expensive than some but the best always is.

Thanks everyone I’ve soaked the tank in wd40 and shook it round with some ball bearings to break up the loose. Will soak in vinegar the weekend and use por 15 as that seems to be a favorite

does it leak?if not why not just get rid of the rust

Mine had rust pin holes in it around the fuel tap where it had been on its side stand for 14 years…so i took the tank off, 1/4 filled with fine gravel, wrapped it in a quilt and put it in a cement mixer for a few hours. Emptied it, then made a small hoover attachment with a foot of hose pipe and gaffa tape to get all the dust out. A mate spot welded the pin holes then i bought some epoxy resin 2 mix tank sealer and spent 20 mins or so sloshing it around the tank. It says, cure for 24 hours, but I left mine for about a month as i was busy doing other things. Tanks fine now.☺

Car wheel nuts are better than gravel or ball-bearings. Mainly cos you can count them in and back out again!
