  2. You are about to be bombarded with alternate views on this issue, all I can say is I changed to Fully Synthetic and noticed a difference in the running of my 106 engine Ultra. Much smoother !

  3. Mobil 1 for me. V twin 20w-50 for the engine and primary, 75w-140 for the trans. I have less valvetrain noise and the clutch and trans are much smoother

  4. Amsoil in motor and primary, red line in tranny, 16 ultra limited..

  5. The great oil debate. I have used Harley Syn 3 full synthetic since new in all three holes for convenience. Since I do my own changes, it sure beats having all different oils standing around. In the end it’s all slippery and it’s a matter of oil beliefs and what and who you want to believe in. My hog runs much better after I wash and wax it because I feel better on it and looks better. Next guy says his bike is quiter in brand X oil. Hell I can’t even hear my radio. One person says they ran such and such an oil and they had motor problems. Means nothing since is that from a faulty part or how the bike was driven. You would need hundreds of bikes using different oils in exacty the same conditions to have any statically validity. If the oil meets spec good enough for the Harley Company then it’s good enough for me.

  6. Amsoil. Mobile. 1. Then harley came in third. Syn

  7. Lucas 20/50 synthetic

  8. I switched to Amsoil and my valve train noise went away.

  9. 60’000 miles on my Ultra! Standard Harley oil for me! but I change it every 3000 miles anyways! No Issues!

  10. Either or is good as rule of thumb for me If i use synthetic I change at 5k miles and with regular oil 2500k . 10k for tranny and primary oil

  11. Amsoil a hundred percent

  12. Synthetic is for water cooled engines\nOnly.

  13. M6 91 got 82 on the ticker and pursue like a kitten with amsoil in all 3 holes

  14. Seen a lot of harleys seeping oil from the jugs \nUsing synthetic.

  15. This decision depends upon the mileage. If under 20k, I’d say OK to switch to Synth. Over 20k, no so much. The reason why is b/c distilled oil swells gaskets and seals. So much so that over time, heat and pressure slightly distort the metal surface between the two pieces the seal or gasket separate.

  16. Full synthetic, amsoil redline mobilone synthetic

  17. Conventional 20-50 in the engine, Rotella 15-40 in the primary and, whichever heavy synthetic gear oil is on sale in the trans. That’s for the evo guys. I can’t be the only one lol.

  18. Synethic handles the heat of an air cooled engine better.

  19. Amsoil in the engine.HD Formula Plus in the primary,transmission.2005 FLHTC,128,000 trouble free miles.

  20. Just put Amsoil in my Evo at 30k…….

  21. I’m running HD Synth 3. The only comment I havent seen here is an HD dealer told me to try a heavier weight for transmission to help ease the thump when you change gears. I’m running 85W-140 per their recommendation. After about 1500 miles, not sure I’ve noticed a difference honestly. I’ll prob change to something else next time.

  22. Full synthetic …. every time …. always

  23. I use amsoil and their gear oil in tranny and primary

  24. Amsoil in the motor Redline in the trans HD primary oil

  25. Don’t need to use different in two just choice
